Family Orientation is tailored to the needs of parents and guardians, focusing on topics that are of special relevance to you in your role as a student supporter. Our Family Orientation program runs concurrently to Student Orientation. This optional event provides you with a comprehensive introduction to the campus resources and services that are in place to ensure your student's success as a UNA Lion. Students can register their family members for Family Orientation during the online registration for Student Orientation (SOAR).
- Financial Support: An overview of financial aid, payment processes, and managing university costs.
- Student Safety: Information about campus safety measures.
- Academic Support: Overview of academic advising, tutoring services, and how families can support their students academically.
- Campus Life: Information about student organizations, extracurricular activities, and how students can get involved on campus.
- Health and Wellness: Details on mental health services, the campus health clinic, and immunizations.
Registration and Fees
Students are able to register up to 2 family members for Family Orientation when they complete their registration for SOAR. The cost to attend Family Orientation is $35 per family member. Please keep in mind that this fee is non-refundable. Your registration is not complete until the registration fee has been paid. Student and family fees cover meals, materials, student employment, and other costs needed to run the SOAR program.
Travel and Accommodation
Lodging is not provided for family members attending SOAR. Students attending the overnight session only will be provided with on-campus housing. We encourage you to check out all of the wonderful hotels, restaurants and attractions that can be found in the Shoals area by visiting !
