Faculty Development
The Center for Writing Excellence provides two forms of support for faculty professional development. First, it offers presentations and workshops on issues related to Writing across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID). Second, it sponsors, jointly with Collier Library and the Office of the Vice 麻豆社 for Academic Affairs, a one-week writing and research retreat for faculty to work on publications and presentations.
Writing across the Curriculum & Writing in the Disciplines
The Center for Writing Excellence provides faculty support for Writing across the Curriculum (WAC) and Writing in the Disciplines (WID). This includes any aspect of writing in a course. WAC / WID workshops, presentations, or individual consultations are provided when requested by a faculty member. For more information, contact the CWE director.
Faculty Research and Writing Retreat
Every third week of May, the CWE co-sponsors a writing retreat for faculty and staff. This week-long retreat begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm and meets in the basement of Collier Library. This retreat is held each year, pending funding, during the third week of May. For more information, contact the CWE director.
During these meetings, faculty and staff work on their research papers and presentations in a small community forum. The CWE director and a Collier Library research librarian provide writing and research support on an as-needed basis, and the group shares their daily goals in the morning and successes in the afternoon. Continental breakfast and box lunches are provided on a daily basis by the CWE and Collier Library.
